Just a touch of marg

Mum learnt on tv3 last night that some of the birds need a little bit of fat to give them energy in the winter. So we added a bit of marg to our bread today. Sorry birds, but we don't do butter so we hope you are ok with the yellow stuff.

I found it particularly yummy, and taste tested it myself first.

Yup, I will give it the poppyQ seal of approval. That is some tasty stale bread and marg - you lucky lucky birds.
Please join us tomorrow for wordless wednesday, and I will show you what happened to the bread!

Minkfest Monday?

When the skies are cloudy and cold, and we know we are lucky as we don't get snow here where we live. This picture is from the end of last week, when there were some lovely red sunsets, that made the houses above us look like they were on fire.

You need your mum to put the new polar fleece mink blankie on the bed, the one that is almost the same colour as you. We know it is mancat Monday, but maybe it should be minkfest Monday instead? Mum says it is the perfect thing to snuggle under and read her book on a chilly night.

More of the Same

It was very dark here today, so we had a lazy one. Me and mum slept in real late, and mum read her book and I helped the washing dry.

Our weather forecast is for wet and dark all the rest of the week. Hurry up spring, we need some sun and some hots.

Helping

I'll help you make the bed, after I have a snooze. Please don't move the duvet, I like it just the way it is.

If I am a good girl, mum will drag me around the bed and she will play with me while she puts all of the sheets on.

Remembering a Cat Who Loved Boxes

Last week was the hugely popular First International Cat in Boxes day, here in the cat blogosphere. Well before me, mum had a special beautiful girl called Puss. One day in the summer, Puss decided she would sleep outside in the front porch. First she slept on the door mat, them mum put a cardboard box with a polar fleece blanket out there so she would keep warm as she was an old girl.

As the months went on, mum had to replace the cardboard box with a special plastic cat bed. It had a pillow in it, covered with a towel and a polarfleece, and Puss loved sleeping out there, rain or shine.

Unfortunately mums computer crashed and lost all of her old photos, so she only has this small photo from her cellphone, done with about 10 pixels.
That Puss, she was a funny girl. She loved potato chips, loved strangers, loved her cat biscuits and mum loved her!! She hopes she is sitting in her box at the bridge smiling down at us.
Have a great weekend everybuddy.

Happy Bday AllieBelle!

Happy 13th birthday dear AllieBelle. Thanks for making us smile all year, for coming to stay with us and keeping my feet warm on the bed and playing with my feather stick and ribbons. We love you sweet girl, and know that you are going to have great fun as a teenager.

We hope that you will not think it too uncool to talk to your old aunty and come and visit her and her cat every now and then.

Big smoocheroonies from us both.

Needing a Laugh

Today we felt like a lol laugh. We are sick of grey skies, the weather man promises blue frosty ones tomorrow.
Luckily I get to stay inside, and send my mum off to work. Luckily she has a job, as so many people are getting laid off all over the place.

Thank You World

Thank you world, for coming to visit me!! Mum thought she would share one of her fave pictures of me from last summer, to thank all my friends for visiting us in the past 12 months.

See all those read dots? They show us where all of our visitors come from. Many of you we know by name and consider you friends. Some are lurky turkeys, who come by for a visit, but are too shy to comment or say hello. Don't be shy lurky turkeys!! We were all like you once - but eventually we joined in, and blogging has brought only good things, good people and good animals into our lives.

Sometime in the next couple of days, the clustrmaps map will loose all of its dots , and start over for a new collection of visits.

Thanks for dropping by everybuddy.

Itty Bitty Kitty Snaps

Misha my friend, these itty bitty kitty photos of me are for you. I was only 8 weeks old when I came home with my mum, and I am snoozing on the big couch.
Well today is the winter solstice for us folks in the Southern Hemishphere, and we welcome every minute of daylight back. Our winter has been mild, but we miss the warmth and blue skies, and mum looks forward to the washing drying outside on the line.
Have a great day friends.

Awww Fanks

Fank you for all the nice comments, about my Poppy Q in box photos. Mum loves the ones of me when I was an itty bitty kitty. She had some shampoo sent to her in that box, and as soon as she opened it, I climbed in. Luckily she had her camera handy and got a couple of shots.

The big box came when we had two chair delivered and I had a lot of fun in there, exploring and running around in it as it was soooooooo big.

No boxes this weekend, just the heater on and lots of snoozing.

Sweet dreams everybuddy.

Cleaning out the Closet

Mum found these pictures of me cleaning out the closet, last year.

It is so cold here, I could do with all of those old jackets to keep me warm!

Mum took them all to the Salvation Army shop. We hope the neighbourhood are enjoying mums old warm clothes.
We hope you all help clean out the closets and recycle your old clothes. Most shelters, SPCA, and vets are happy to take old sheets, blankets, towels and old woolly or polarfleece clothes to keep animals warm. Not to wear the jackets/jumpers silly, but to be wrapped up in them after surgery or when in cages.
We have a pile of old worn sheets, and mum is going to take them to the SPCA soon. She should really give up her old pink towels, she has had them since she was 18, and that was ages ago.

Shopping Sunday with Poppy Q

Sittin at home on a cold Sunday, we were browing through Etsy : http://www.etsy.com/. ETSY is one of our fave websites, as artists all over the world sell their art and products directly to customers. We like to support the artists, and buy many presents and gifts this way rather than all that generic stuff at the mall, that everyone can find in any town. Most sellers are really helpful and keen to customise their items to what the buyer wants.

We hope you like our selections and enjoy your sunday shopping with Poppy Q.

Fit for a princess this gorg cat bed is a little pricey, $600 (US), but a girl can dream. Mum knows if she bought it for me, I would be unlikely to sleep in it, preferring the dirty laundry or a cardboard box. You can find it here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12161036

Diamond cat collars - how posh. These are very sweet and purrfectly modeled. $35 (US), from this seller: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5354335

If diamonds are a bit out of your price range, these cute baby/cat scarves are cute and on sale. They are only $10 (US), and you can buy here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=14919915

These hand knitted fish toys are cute, and come loaded with nip. At only $5 (US), they are cheap and cheerful and look like fun. Buy them here:http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20775999

We love these custom pet portraits done with a vintage Victorian edge. They are $45 (US) and you can buy them here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25606109

Another fab way of capturing your cuteness is to have one of these cute cat lifelike toys made. That way you can travel with your beans wherever they go!! They are $160 (US), and you can buy here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23995608

Thanks for shopping with us, we hope you like the things we choose, they made us smile!.

Love for Sale

Mum likes to look on trade me, NZs answer to Ebay, at the cats and dogs. She doesn't look too often, for her heart gets broken every time. These were some of the sweet faces she found on their recently, all looking for furrever homes.

Sniffles

Mum works at the hospital, and as it is entering the winter cold/flu season, and with swine flu on the rise, she rolled up her sleeve and had the flu vaccine three weeks ago. Now she hasn't had a cold in about 9 months, but ever since her jab, she has been feeling sniffley and today sneezy as well.

She would have rather stayed at home with me, but she is on-call and tomorrow is on shift, and Thursday is the only one able to help out, and then on-call on Frid, Sat and Sunday night and then shift next Monday and on-call next Tuesday. So maybe she can schedule a sick day in bed with me next Wednesday. Til then, lem sip and hopefully an early night.

We hope all the germs stay away from you all.

Monday already?

Mum thought you might like to see photos of where she went walking on Sunday, it is the beach about a 10 minute drive from our house and is right next to the airport. It was sunny, but very, very cold and windy.

Now back to the birds, I don't catch them. I just sit and watch them fly onto our roof and eat the bread, and hope that one of them slips off so I can chase him. It works better when mum throws the bread onto the neighbours roof, as it is lower that ours, but as they were home they might have thought something strange was happening. So mum only throws bread on their roof during the week, when they are at work.

Have a great week everybuddy.

Cat Vs Wild

Get yourself a tall mum or dad, so that they can throw the torn up bread on the roof, not a shorty like my mum who lets lots fall on the ground.

Wait for the birdies to come.

You may need a hidey hole, like my garden weeds.

Can you see me hiding there?
I hope this little instructional post of outdoor survival skills is helpful for my indoor buddies.
PS - no birdies were harmed in the making of this post. Alas, one loaf of bread had to be sacrificed.
