Friday Feathers

When my mum went away she made a new friend. This tasty looking snack, I mean seagull came and sat on the car and looked through the windscreen. Mum was trying to enjoy the view, and thought that Mr seagull was just searching for sandwiches.
Have a great weekend everybuddy.

Meet More of the Family

Mum went home and stayed with big Uncle, sister in law, Miss Belle, and budley dudley. They also share their home with these four fishies. The big one is called Dory, and the other three are fish, fish and fish. Mum would like to say that getting all four fish in the photo was very tricky.

This is Lush. She would like you all to know she has very big teeth.

And she would advise you to stay away from her backyard if you are a pussy cat.

Code Brown

Once I got home yesterday, and all of today I have been following my mum around in case she disappears again. Whenever she sits on the couch, I run up and sit on her lap for about 5 minutes and then I am off again.

Last night, as we went to bed, mum noticed I smelled a bit whiffy. When she checked my back carriage, she noticed there was a bit of brown hanging around. By the time she got some toilet paper to clean me up, I had managed to sit in about 5 spots on her bed, and in the spare room. So doors were closed, gloves on, and duvets changed. Today I am a bit better, but mum is going to leave the big fleece blanket over the bed, just in case the excitement is all too much.

We both had a great nights sleep though in our own bed, but mum says she has arrived back and the autumn weather has really started. Luckily we have a mountain of jobs to do, lots of books to read and mum has plenty of merino to wear.

I'm Home

Darlings,
I'm Back!!!! I'm at home at last, and mum has let me free to sniff all the outside smells that may have changed in a week.

Mum had a lovely visit with her family. The weather was perfect - in the mid 20s (68-75 F), and sunny. Today the clouds rolled in , just when mum wanted to wash all her travelling clothes. She got to relax, take naps, walks, read books, and watch lots of trashy tv.

We look forward to catching up with you all.

P.S my report card was good, except it hinted that my waistline was blooming, and so was some of my gums. Oh ohhhhh - I sense the diet dental biscuits in my future.

Freedom

Today is ANZAC day, where we remember all the brave soldiers who serve our countries and have fought for New Zealand and Australia.
When I get home, I'm going to have to get out and about and recheck all the smells outside the house.

Autumn Sun

There is still enough sun to get the washing dried, and we have a little outdoor line that is between our house and the fence. So many friends recently mentioned that they couldn't dry their washing outside, and we thought they might like to see how we do it.
As you can see, our backyard is pretty small, but just the right size for me and mum.

Breezes

Wishing you some spring breezes to sniff over the weekend if you live north of the equator. For all my southern buddies, hope you are not sniffin with too many colds yet. Our weather is still pretty nice during the day, but the nights are getting oh so chilly.

Have a lovely weekend everybuddy.

Camera Practice

Like most cats, I don't sit too long outside or like to pose for the camera. So mum has learnt to take something outside in her pocket to distract me. It might be a piece of paper, some string, the temptation packet or anything that is likely to get me to look at her.

She is enjoying trying out different things with her camera, and while she is away, she would is going to try and take it out every day and take some shots.

Red Case

The red case is out - my friends were right. Mum is off to do some visiting, so apparently I am off to the spa - so she says.
I spent all of last night sitting in the red case, everytime mum moved me out of it, I clambered around the bed and climbed back in. In the end she left me in the case for a couple of hours, and finally got it packed at midnight.
Then - the horror - I only got 10 little biscuits in my bowl this morning. She thinks this is part of the plan to be able to entice me into the PTU. I will let you know how that goes.
And so that you don't miss me, mum has already planned some posts for while I am away.
Stay tuned, and I will catch up with you next week.

Home Comforts

We have had three beautiful days in a row, with warm sun and clear skies. It is not normally like this when mum has a weekend off, so we have both enjoyed it. The washing got dried and the birdies got fed again.
Mum says I better enjoy the home comforts while I can - what the? What you talking about?

Watching

My friend Mandu, asked what kind of birdies did I watch?
Why, tasty ones of course!! We think they are mostly sparrows and blackbirds that live in our neighbourhood. Yesterday we gave them bread, and some grapes to eat, and they were happy for hours. I stayed out in my nest the whole day, but didn't catch any birdies.

Mighty Jungle

This is my secret bird watching spot in the jungle. Mum has put grapes and bread up on the roof for the birdies, so I am going to watch them and see if I can catch me one.

In our Local Paper Today - Homer and Henry are Best Friends Forever

Putting the cat among the pigeons is not normally an affectionate affair, but in Wainoni an unlikely bond has formed between a pair of natural enemies.

Homer, the pigeon, and Henry the cat, are living proof that differences can be put aside, since the pair each adopted their owners, Sandra and Murray Campbell.
"They eat together and play fight together.
"The pigeon flaps its wings and the cat puts its paws up."
"Homer even sits on the cat's back and when the cat stalks sparrows on the front lawn, old ding-dong pigeon follows behind to watch,'' Mrs Campbell said.

Henry arrived as a stray at the Campbells a year ago. Six months later, Homer landed.
"My daughter was visiting from Australia and we were sitting here looking out the door when my daughter goes `Oh my God there's a pigeon with Henry!'
"We thought it was going to have its head bitten off. But no, they got along fine."

The pair have been found sleeping on a bed together although Henry is more likely to be found in the bird house Mr Campbell built for Homer.

"The cat goes in the bird house and the bird sits on the roof of it," Mrs Campbell laughed.
"Homer sits on my grand-daughter's head and she walks around with it.
"Homer can get quite nasty though. If any of the kids have barefeet, he'll go for their feet and he pecks quite hard too.''

Where the pair came from remains a mystery, but the Campbells speculate the pair may have come from the same home originally.
"We'd love to know but we're quite attached to them now."

Homer doesn't stick around at night, disappearing about 6pm each evening.
"But he's back the next morning about 6.30am coo-ing and carrying on," Mrs Campbell said.

Henry the cat retains its masculine name despite having had kittens not long after its arrival at the Campbells.

"That came as a surprise, but we've had her fixed now and made her our own."

Plans

For our weekend, mum and I have a few plans. They all depend on the weather, or who mum gets to catch up with. I have plans for naptime, and being out in my jungle.

Hope you all have plans for a nice weekend too.

The Truth About Smooches

You would think with a face like this I would be smoochable - but
  • I avoid being picked up.
  • I don't like being cuddled.
  • I run away if you try and kiss me
  • I only let my mum kiss me on the head, and often I growl at her when she does it.
  • I only jump on her lap, and sit there about four times a week.
  • I do often sleep on the bed between her knees, but I wait til she is asleep before I jump up on the bed.

So mum has learnt to wait until I am very sleepy on her bed, and she sneaks in for a stealth snuggle, kiss or tummy rub. And she enjoys those special stolen moments, cause she knows I love her.

Tummy Tuesday

Sometimes I let my mum rub my tummy, not often though. If I am outside rolling around like this, if she comes near me, I get up and runs away.

Jungle Nest

This is where my little secret nest is, in the jungle. It is just small enough for a pussy cat like me to hide, and the sunbeams stream in in the morning.
No birdies fell of their perch yesterday, but I did lots of spying on them.
Hope you have all had a busy weekend.

Sunbeams and Fun

I'm enjoying soaking up the warms on the concrete out the back while it lasts. The forecast is for sunshines all over New Zealand this weekend, so we are going to try and enjoy it while it lasts.
Hope you get some sunbeams wherever you are this weekend and have some fun everybuddy!!

Ocean of Green

Mum pulled up some of these weeds over the Easter weekend. Here in NZ, we get Friday, Sat, Sun and Mon as a four day weekend. We didn't realize that our friends in the US and some other countries have to work Good Friday and Easter Monday.
That also means for us, it is a shorter week than normal, so we are yet again hanging out til Friday. Mum usually works lots of shift work and weekends, but has been lucky to have a few more weekends off than normal, so she is not complaining and trying her best to pretend she is a normal worker, who works Mon-Fri. Of course, though she still has to get through work 9-5 on Thurs, then on-call Thurs 5pm- 8am Friday and shift Friday night 2.30pm-10.30pm. So mum asks you to spare a thought for all the healthcare workers like her, who seldom get an evening at home, or a decent nights sleep.
Have a great week everybuddy.
