Mum Bugs

Mum can't believe that she has a cold again.  Number six we think in a row.  She has a bad cough again, and her throat feels awful, so she is tucked up in bed, with her book, lots of tissues, fresh fruit and juice.

Me - I've been sleeping on the bed keeping an eye on her.

Photo Troubles

Mum has been having photo troubles, we think the cable is not working, so we can't shift the photos from the camera to the laptop - grrrr.

She keeps looking at yesterdays photo and laughing, it looks like the weeds are photoshopped in, but it is all real folks.  And mum didn't have to lie down in the grass to get the shot, she just likes putting the camera on the ground and taking shots.  She is never sure if they will turn out, some are good, and some are bad.

Today the sun has come out on a Sunday - a rare event, so us girls have pulled some weeds, done some washing and loaded up the wheelie bin full of rubbish, all ready for the week to start.

V E T

Today was my annual V E T visit.  I twarted my mums earlier attempts to get me to the 9am appointment by staying at least 6ft grabbing distance away from her.  So mum gave up, rang the clinic and went to the movies (Jane Eyre and she loved it).

When she came home I ran away from her again, but she managed to trap me, and off we went.  I got my jabs, my toofies were scrubbed at and I got the diet biscuits given to me again - sigh!!

I did get given a new cat bed which I have avoided - which mum says is typical.

Parade

Mum went to a parade today - to say thanks to these guys............................
........and this guy, that's Richie McCaw - our All Blacks captain................
.............with Brad Thorn........- good guys, we're so proud of them all..................
.................... but we're most proud of this and all the work they did to get it.
Then we all went to Parliament, where there was lots of cheering and the All Blacks did a Haka, in the rain.  We hope they all get a good break with their friends and families.  Awesome.

Happy Birthday Mum

Happy Birthday to my mum today.  She says she doesn't need any presents, as a rugby win was present enuf.  However, as she has the day off, I might send her off to choose herself a traditional Poppy birthday present of new jewels.

She has the day off, and might have cake for breakfast and then go off and have a great day out.

World Cup Win

The All Blacks won the Rugby world cup this evening, awesome!!  The French played very well, and we had a very nervous eighty minutes.  Where mum was , the whole place was almost quiet up until the final whistle blew.  Then there was cheering and dancing and singing.  Mum didn't stay out late, pubs aren't her thing, and all the young ones were taking over.  Town was CRAZY, with people everywhere and car horns tooting and people  yelling!!  It has been a long 24 years since we last won the cup, and NZ has had a horrible horrible past 12 months, and it is nice to finally have something good to smile about.

So mum and I will sleep well tonight.

Big Sunday

It's a rainy Sunday morning here in Wellington, but all eyes will be on Auckland tonight, for the rugby world cup.  This afternoon the weather is clearing and  Mum has left me some biscuits and a cosy bed to sleep in and she is heading out this afternoon to meet her friends.

Do you like my dental floss?

Big Saturday

Today mum went to the hairdressers.  The lady next to her was being very bossy to her girl colouring her hair.  My mum though, she tries to stay chilled, and she cringes when customers are rude.  She arrives early and knows that on Saturday it is busy busy at the salon, and her hairdresser who is the salon manager has to keep everybody happy.

She also went to the V.E.Ts to get some flea stuff, and to make an appointment for me.  The lady waiting said she had a British Blue too, and she was buying diet biscuits.  It seems we are all on a diet, it must be our build.

The reason it's a big weekend here in NZ - the rugby world cup final is on tomorrow.  Every kiwi, big and small has been waiting for this day.  The whole four million of us will be holding our breath, and waiting for kick off on Sunday night at 9pm.  Go the All Blacks!!

Outside Cat

Today I was just lying on my deck in the sun, thinking that I am lucky I gets to be an outside cat.  With a cat door, I can come inside and find my biscuits and mums soft bed for my afternoon nap, but really I loves the outside best.

We hopes you all gets a taste of the outside, even if it is just having the window open.

Cartoon Me

You can use this site to cartoonize your pet at The Catoonizer  Didn't mum do a good job?  Nothing like wasting time at 00:30am in the morning.  She just couldn't figure out how to save it and send it to the blog properly.

Tears

This morning, mum was at work at 6am, and she was reading some blogs while waiting for her scanner to switch on.  She read about her sweet friend Miss Parker, who has been given a sad diagnosis.  We know though that her lovely rents and fur family will surround her love and that she knows we are all purring for our lovely girl.
Last night there were tears of joy around NZ, as the All Blacks beat the Wallabies in the Rugby World Cup semi final.  Next Sunday night we play France in the final, and have a chance of winning the cup.  You see it has been a long long 24 years since we won, and the past week all of us have been holding our breath, just hoping.  Especially this year - it's been tough.  NZ has done the recession tough, and with the Pike River mine disaster, the Canterbury earthquake and now this oil spill, we all need some good news.

Catnip Crazy

I am enjoying my mousies.  Mum took lots of photos, so she'll be sharing them with you all week.  Yesterday mum went and met with friends for a wander around some shops, afternoon tea at an art gallery, a DVD (Tamara Drewe - it was ok), then the best burgers ever at Burger Fuel (a Kiwi chain).  Then she got home in time to watch France Vs Wales on the TV.

Today is grey and it looks like our daily rain will start soon.  So mum has a ton of housework to do, and I'll snoopervise from somewhere warm and cosy.

Hope you all have had a good weekend.

Happy Five

Happy Birthday to me.   I woked my mum up to tell her there were no biscuits in my bowl, so she sat up and sung a little song to me and then fed me my foods.  She went and got the shopping and got me some treats.   It is good being five.

New Noms

It is a lovely evening here in Wellington, at least it isn't raining like it has been all week.  Mum let me have a picnic out on the deck tonight.  She has noticed that I haven't been eating all of my fancy feasts lately.  I have been leaving lots of it in my bowls.  So tonight she bought me new noms - which hasn't been too successful in the past - but guess what I ate it all!!!

Sorry little rabbits look away now!!  Mmmmm - new noms.

Acts of Kindness - Part two

Mum was on-call last night and struck the call in jackpot (she works at the hospital).  A patient at 4am, and another at 7am, means that she needs a 9 hour break, so she had the rest of the day off.

So, she decided to go into town and have a treat - a Reuben sesame bagel and a walk around the city.  When she got off the bus on the way home, a young girl got off and was a bit sick.  Mum stopped and checked she was ok, and offered to go and get her some water or to walk her home. Mum made sure she was ok before the girl headed home up the road.

Mum finally succumbed in the afternoon, and us ladies had a little nap on the bed.  So it is earlish night for us at Chez Q.

Spring Flowers

Mum had a good weekend, and is a little sad that it is over, and the rugby carnival is leaving our town.  So after work, she got some tasty food in and when she went past her friends florist shop, she picked up one of the small $5 bunches she makes for locals (not as grand as the ones in this picture).

As she walked up the hill towards home she was joined by a little girl, about four with her mum going home from creche.  The little girl told mum that she loved her flowers, and they all chatted into mums street.  Mum waved goodbye and the little girl and her mum put their bags into the car, so my mum ran back and gave the little girl her flowers and told her to enjoy them.  She hopes the two girls are happy with their flowers, and mum will go back and get some tomorrow.

Late

Mum got home late tonight, so late that it is already tomorrow.   She went and met her friends for lunch, but they were driven inside by the cold and wet weather.  Then mum met her best friend for the rugby.  They got to watch Ireland play Wales, which was a very exciting game.  Lots of the supporters were dressed up and there was lots of singing and cheering.

Then mum and friends went to a pub to watch England play France, which was a close game too.  So big night out, but mum went home and left all the young ones to it in town.

So we just have to wait for the sheets to whizz through the dryer, then I will help her make the bed and then it will be time to retire.

Me - I guarded the house and had a good snooze.

Can You Tell What I'm Thinking?

You can tell that I am scoping out my purple bag, will I go and sit on it and warm up by the heater?  I think I will.  It is pretty chilly this week, but we think the sunshine will pop through soon.

My purple bag is special - my gdad gave it to me last time he was here, he thought I might like it and I have been sleeping on it every night.

Car Inspector

Awww sniffing the cars tyres is a busy job.  I was only allowed to do this under supervision before my mum chased me back into the house.

Sunday Adventures

Mums adventures on sunday took her to the park to see these gusy - the All Blacks vs Canada, at the Rugby World Cup.  Mum and her friend had great seats, they were in the second row just in front of this try line.  That means that the All Blacks warmed up right in front of them, and came running out just beside them.  Also lots of great tries were scored right in front of the seats.  Canada did an awesome job, and mum said there was lots of cheering for them.

It was cold and rainy and poor mum didn't feel too well.  She coughed so hard that her tummy got upset, and thought she might need to leave.  But she stuck it out and came home and told me all about it on the couch.

Today though - wow it is pouring with rain.  Mum had lots of outdoors plans that she has had to shelve, she wanted to go to the botanical garden and see the tulip display, and got for  a walk downtown.  Instead she has stayed at home again, and is waiting for a break in the rain to go and get the groceries.

Day Out

Mum went out and about yesterday afternoon.  The navy were in town, and everybody was down at the harbour having a gander.
Then she went to see Tonga play France.  It was an exciting game right up until the last minute of play.
It ws great to see so many of the crowd all dressed up with costumes and flags.

Me - I stayed home and snoozed.
