Happy New Year

Mum and I wanted to wish all of our friends a Happy New Year and hope you get to think back on the year that has been, and think of all the adventures the year ahead will hold.

We have had non-stop rain here for about 36 hours, and we certainly wish we could send it to everybuddy who needs some rain clouds.  We feel bad for complaining about something that others are wishing for.

Have a lovely New Years Eve, we hope you get to spend it with friends and family!!

Drops

The rain is very very heavy outside, so mum and I have hibertnated at home.  We have had to curl up on the couch and the bed - times are tough.  Our little backyard looks like a little swamp, we hope Mr Hedgehoggie is ok, he might be happy with the worms that come up.

Hot Stuff

Over Christmas, we had a couple of warm scorcher days here, well for us.  So when it gets too hot outside I retreat to two spots, either under my chair fort or spread out on the rug inside.  Our week of hots though is over, and we are back to cloudy and rainy for the New Year, just in time for a mums couple of days off.

Helping

Mum and I had a chill day today.  A little sleep in and a few chores.  Why here I am helping out with the washing.  Mum has to go back to work tomorrow, so she needs some clean uniforms.

Christmas Loot

This is what I picked out for my mum for Christmas.  A little blue purse, for when she goes out (only a couple of times a year she says).  I beg to differ.
This is the birthday/Christmas present that she bought herself.  A painting that she has liked for ages but was always too expensive.  Then the artist had a show where the price of the pictures were under half the usual price.  Mum was able to layby it and bought it for herself as a treat.

This is the present Santa bought for me - more temptations.
Mum said the best present though has been the glorious weather, it has been warm and sunny for several days in a row, which has been awesome.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day, and a wee break.

Merry Merry

We want to wish you a Merry Christmas.  Santa has already arrived here in New Zealand, and we are very pleased with our stash.  We are more pleased that people stayed well and safe over the past two nights and mum only had to go into the hospital once overnight.

Have a lovely day - we hope you get to share it with your loved ones, human and furry.

Foot Snuggle

Mum went and met a friend for lunch today, and picked up her birthday/Christmas present (she has had it on layby for  a while).  When she comes home, she kicks off her shoes and I always come in for a foot snuggle.  Hmmmm smells good.

Town wasn't too crazy, as most people have left to travel to their families.

We hope all of you can chill out and have a foot snuggle of your own.

Mates

As we potter round, getting ready for Christmas we are thinking of all of our mates in Christchurch.  They had a couple of big earthquakes this afternoon.  Just as we thought the earth was settling down there, they have been shaken up again.  So far, no reported deaths, just a few minor injuries and more building damage.

We also wanted to mention all of our lovely friends on the internets.  Thanks for making our lives such fun, and for taking time out of your busy days to visit us and comment.  Truly, you make each day entertaining and we always leave your blogs with smiles on our faces.  We also are grateful to all our friends who reach out in time of tears, all those facing illness and hard times, we love you too.  We hope you all have a great holiday, and get to spend time with your friends and families.

Merry Christmas.

Back on the Bed

Mum welcomed my company back on the bed last night.  She secretly thinks that her new Indian quilt has enticed me back to the mother bedroom.   Even though she tossed and turned like a demon last night, I stuck out the whole night with her, clinging on by my claws.

So it is 7.44 pm and she is watching the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe on TV, and I am bunkering down for my 13 hour night sleep.  Mum is  going to dip some strawberries in chocolate in the ad breaks, so she has some tasty snacks to take to work tomorrow.

Have You Watched Stewie Yet?

I found this on the Daily Mail website.  Watch Stewie do a great job of soothing his baby to sleep.

Old Photos

Mum was looking back at some old photos and laughing.  This is back when I loved lounging on her bed waiting for the new linen to go on.  At the moment I am sleeping in the spare room, and barely venture into mums bedroom.   We made up the spare room bed linens last night, just in case we get any surprise visitors.  Mum let me have my fleecy blanket on top, so that I could furminate it.

Slim

Does my butt look big?  Mum thinks I have slimmed down a bit lately.  We ran out of the fatty biscuits, so mum has only been putting out my diet biscuits.  I beg for temptations more than I used too, but mum thinks the combination has dropped my weight a bit.

She says she needs to find a replacement for Turkish Delight TimTam biscuits - oh well!!

Easy

Today we're taking it easy.  Mum has worked 12 days in a row, and had five of the past seven nights on call.  She had a hair dresser appt today, which is always relaxing.  Her hairdresser is just young, but has been looking after mum for four years, and she is allowed to do anything with mums hair that she wants.

Mum then came home for a bit of a nap, as it was a chilly day she curled up on her bed with a quilt.  A warm lemon chicken rissotto for dinner and the Holiday is on the tv - ahhhh Jude Law.

Mums mission this week is to get the groceries that she needs for christmas and to avoid the shops and town.  She has to get my present though, the most important one of the lot.

Hope you all get to take it easy too.

Friday

Scuse the old photo, mum was looking through some old ones and knew we hadn't shown this one before.  It was taken in Feb, back when I liked sleeping on mums bed.  At the moment I am still in the spare bedroom and in fact, at 7pm on Friday night I have already put myself to bed.

It is chilly and rainy again here, in fact it has been a whole week of clouds and seven days since we have seen blue skies.  We are hoping for a bit of summer over the weekend, which should be busy busy.

Have a good weekend everybuddy and we hope you have some time to relax between al the chores and pre christmas rush.

Grass

Our neighbours grow good grass.  I love to sit and chew on the neighbours green stuff.

Summery

Our garden is looking very summery at the moment.  Mum is trying to water it every night, so that it stays green as things are drying out now.  I had a wee nap on the carpet for a couple of hours this evening, but am now out exploring for more mousies.  Where there was one, there are more.

Wowza

Wowza mum what a weekend.  Mousies, feathers, nip and lots of snoozing.  I think we better have a quiet week this week mum.  Mum says there is lots of rain forecast this week, so we'll be taking it easy.

Meet My Mouse

First thing mum knew about my new pet, was when I came running into the lounge with him in my mouth.  Se told me outside, outside, outside!!!  So I took him back outside.  She grabbed her camera to get some shots of him.
I dropped him to watch him for a little while, and mum realised he was still alive.
So while I was listening to what  girl I am, the little mousie snuck out between my legs and skiddadled into the bushes.
Til we meet again Mr Mousie!!!

Play Time

Mum hoovered the floor today and found my purple mousie who was hiding under the couch.
Our good friend Ann popped around, and as her family live on the beach she bought me this big seagull feather, and a couple of feathes that her chickens didn't need.
Mum added some fresh nip, and I am in play heaven.  Saturdays are awesome.

Friday Flashback

This picture was taken in the middle of June in the middle of our winter.  Mum was amused to see a photo of me sleeping on her bed, as I have not slept with her for about four months.  My bed spots are on rotation, and I usually spend a month or two in the same spot all night.  At the moment, I am sleeping in the spare room on the bed in there.

Come Back Sunshine

This photo was taken on Saturday morning, last weekend.  It was a glorious sunny day and the last day since we have seen sunshine.  It has been cloudy, grey, rainy and cold since - every day.  In fact mum had to move the winter blanket back onto her bed two nights ago.    Tonight we have the heater on, and mum is looking for her sheepskin sneakers.  Come back sunshine.

Telephone Pillow

Mum bought this pillow a couple of weeks ago, she wasn't sure if it went with the couch but she likes it, so it stays for a while.  Mum did laugh when she listened to the radio the other morning, they were talking about sounds you never hear anymore - like a rotary dial telephone, records being played on a record player,  the return of a manual typewriter, the sound of glass milk bottles clinking together etc.  Mum thought that they were all sounds that many young ones would never have heard, but she knows that most bloggers would remember those noises.

Starting Off

Starting off the week slowly.  This is my new corner of the couch.  Mum took away the flannel sheet that was drying on this end of the couch and washed it again to get the furs off.

As you can see I blend in well with the new couch, so my furs don't show up too badly.  Mum just has to brush them off before any visitors turn up.
