Saturday

Today was super chilly and we had a few bouts of rain, so we only had the back door open for a quick time.  Mum did some chores then had some mum time.

She went to town and met one of her besties.  They went for a walk along the waterfront to a craft market.  Mum bought some material to do some sewing with (she better dust off her sewing machine for that one).  She also bought some underwears, as it is not often she sees some half price bras that fit.

So the curtains are drawn, and the heaters are on.  We're settling in to a night at home.  Hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Blankies on the Bed

Pile on the blankies - it is going to be a chilly one this weekend!!!  School holidays have started, and it is usually means it will be  rainy and be cold.  Mum and I have a pile of books and only one or two things to do.  Think of us if you are sweltering away and suffering the hots!!

Crispy Night

Last night mum was on call.  She was in at work from 11pm to 3.20am.  It was rather frotsty, and she just got under the covers and was reading her book to settle her mind down, when her phone rang again at 3.30am.  So she got up and put her clothes back on, and went back to work.  I got up with her and followed her down to the end of our street.

Mum didn't get back til 5.20am, but I was still outside waiting for her.  It always makes mum laugh cos I am very loud at meowing at her and welcoming her home, and she is worried that it will wake up all the neighbours.

So - we finally got back to bed at 6am for a couple of hours sleep, mum went back to work for an hour or so, and then we get to have the evening together.  Mum will have an early night, which will work for me too.

I'm in love with my bubble wrap blankie - don't judge.

New Sleeping Spot

This is my new sleeping spot at the end of the bed.  Yes it is a piece of plastic bubble wrap, that came around a new lamp my mum bought.    I loves it.
It is roomy, and nice and warm, and makes a lot of noise as I roll around at night.
Mum loves it too - cos it is on the other side of the bed from where she sleeps.  Ahh an undisturbed rest for her.

More Cool Cat Beds

Mores super cool cat beds, that I am unlikely to sleep in.  Mum especially likes the orange styley one.   All of these fantastic beds are available at ETSY.    Of course, you know I would not sleep in any of them.  Please check back later this week to see my new sleeping spot.

P.S - I did not share any of mums prawns last night.  I am not a lover of peoples food, except maybe ham.

Windy City

There are some howling winds outside tonight.  Mum did have plans to go out, but has decided to camp at home with me.  She gave me some feast for my dinner, and is going to make stir fry prawns  + veg for her dinner.   Her other plan is to take it easy.  Hope you are all relaxing too.

Thinking

Hmmmmm mum wonders if you can tell what I am thinking about in these pictures?

She thinks it is grey and circular, and looks like it might fit a pussycat!

One week later - I still haven't slept in it.  I will sit in it, but mum now thinks it might be just too small for this muscular blue cat.

Happy Solstice

Today it is the winter solstice here in NZ.  That means that our short days will now begin to get longer.  It is also a signal to us, that the worst of the cold weather is due to come to us.  Even though it was grey today, we still managed a little photo sessions.  I know I look a little glum, it is just that I do not like the camera.  You think after six years I would be used to it.

Showers

It is pouring down outside, and in fact the evenings are getting too dark to take many photos.  I love showers - inside ones that is.  I often miow at  mum and make her open the door for me, so I can sneak in and lick up her dirty shower water.  Yes I do get given a bowl of water too, but I like this stuff.

Betterer

The weather is betterer today.  It was cold, windy and rainy yesterday and everybody person was wearing gloves, scarves, coats and hats.  Luckily for me, I has a built in fur coat.  I huddled in front of the heater or on my mums bed.

So mum is off to soak up some vitamins Ds on a walk, and to get the groceries for a tasty tea.  She thinks she will make a spicy mince and eggplant and maybe bake a caramel slice so she has some treaties to take to  work this week.

Enjoy your Sunday!!

Speechless

This afternoon I managed to make my mother speechless.  I sat in this cat bed for a whole two minutes.  Mum tried not to look at me while I was in it, but snapped one quick photo.  Of course I got out, but I keep going back to it.  It might be because it is FREEZING here.  But mum has a big smile on her face.

Dear Janet

Dear Janet,
You asked me about training Miss Poppy to use the cat door.  When she first discovered the cat door in our old house, she found it by herself and kept sneaking out even though she as teeny tiny.  In this house, I only had to open the door a couple of times and show her the outside and she got the hang of it.

The good news for you is that there is you and your husband to train your Miss Poppy.  I would suggest getting some duct tape and taping up the flap to begin with.  Choose a morning when Miss Poppy is hungry and if one of you sits on the other side of the cat flap and shake the biscuit box or temptations bag.  I would suggest that you just gently hold her and guide her head through the cat flap and she should figure the rest out.  It may take a few trys and days, but I am sure your sweetie will figure it out.

Please feel free to email us at julieqATxtraDOTcoDOTNZ if we can help further

Mum

P.S Miss Barb - Chef Jellimeat was the only type of catfood that any of our cats got offered when mum was a girl.  All cats ate it and gobbled it down.  Now we have twenty flavours of fancy feast and other tasties in the supermarket, and all the cats are super fussy.

Collars

I got asked yesterday if I wore a special collar to let me into the cat door.  Unfortunately no.  The reasons are that when I did wear a collar, I was losing one a week in the garden or around the house and I was constantly kicking it off.

There are cat doors that only let your cat in when it is wearing a collar with a special magnet in it.  One of our friends had that kind, but cos her cat kept losing their collars, it was very expensive to use as the magnets were costly to buy.

We have heard that there are new cat doors that know your cats micro chip and only lets your own cat through, which sounds like a better option, although because they are new, they are very pricey to buy here.

In NZ we don't have any critters in the neighbourhood who sneak in.  Mum does think that a couple of local cats do try and sneak in and eat my left over jellimeats.

The cat door is super handy and gives me access to the garden whenever I like to come and go.

Chilly

Hello winds and cold from Antartica, I guess the penguins told you to head up north to New Zealand and make our Tuesday rather chilly.  Mum says it was gloves and scarves at the ready this morning.  Mum says that I hibernate in the winter, and spend just about all day in bed snoozing, and she wishes she could stay home too.

Sleeps

This is where I like to go to get my sleeps - on mums side of the bed.  Especially on our cold days and nights.  Although at night, she makes me shuffle down to the end of the bed, and sleep on the big blankie.

Super Sunday

Our Sunday was super today - it was sunny and when we were outside it was quite warm.  We had a lovely sleep in, and then mum left me to have an afternoon siesta, and she went off for a walk.

There was some gratuitous shopping done - a couple of tshirts and a new dressing gown - ohh laa laa.  Then mum came home and cooked a yummy Sunday dinner - a nice piece of pork with apple sauce, mashed potatoes, lemon carrots and broccoli.

Mum had a good night out last night too.  She met a bestie for dinner, and ate so many noms her tummy felt sore.  They then went and watched the All Blacks play Ireland on a big screen at the pub.  The pub was passing around free hot dogs, and mum had to turn them down as she had scoffed so much at the restaurant.  Maybe next week she will have the free pub food instead.  Good job she went for a walk today to burn off some of the calories.

So we have the heater on and our feet up tonight, getting ready for another week of working.  Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Simply Saturday

Today it was a simple Saturday.  Mum had a course to go to from 10:30-3.30, she was a bit frustrated as much of it was boring, and she did not learn a lot.  Which she says is a bit of a pain when she has given up her Saturday.  So after an hour or two relaxing, she is off to meet friends for dinner.

These are the lovely camelias that are blooming all down the side of our house.  We can't complain much about winter, when we have such pretty flowers.  Tomorrow a sunny day is forecast, and after a wee lie in mum has plans to go out and have a big walk and get some jobs done.  Me - I plan on relaxing.

Finally Friday

It is finally Friday, and mum and I got a day off together which was awesome.  She got to sleep in and we pottered around and did some chores.  Mum went out for a walk, as our prayers worked and we got some sunshines.   Mum got some groceries, and made herself some chilli prawns and veg on rice for dinner which she said was rather tasty.  We hope you all have a fabulous Friday.

Memories

This is an old photo of me.  Look how skinny I look in the sunbeams!!  It was taken after I went to fat camp (the cattery) last year.  I am a real yooyoo dieter, cos it has all climbed back on, and mum says we are both at our fat winter weights.

It has been chilly here, and I have been hogging my mums bed every night to keep warm.

Back

I'm back to sleeping on mums bed, and back to blogging.  Blogger has been bad to me.  We have tried over 20 times to get our post published, so we are tired now, and off to bed.  Sweet dreams.

Jobs

One of the outside jobs that my inside kittie friends may not understand, is the great smells that can get left behind on the drainpipes.  This involves lots of sniffing and layering with your own scents. MMmmmmm!!

Weekending

Our weekend is going to be long.  Monday is the Queens birthday holiday, but mum is working all three days.  Today she went to work at 10am and has got home now at 11pm.  She is going to watch a bit of TV, and then try and turn in, as she has to be up early tomorrow too.

Hope you all get some relaxing done over your weekend.  I'll be outside scratching up the furniture.

Day Off

Mum got to have a day off work today.  She had to get up early bird to get and go and see her hairdresser, where she pays to hide the grey.  Don't know why - grey is cool.

She then went to a shop to look at a top that she had seen online.  Lucky her, as it was discounted and had 2/3 of the price off - yippee.  So she went and had lunch at a restaurant on the waterfront by herself.  She said by having a Kindle in her bag, she didn't mind being by herself, and had a lovely view of the water.

She is glad to be back home with me though, as it is a bit chilly now.  Have a good weekend everybuddy.
