Trick or Treat!!

Happy Halloween everybuddy.  We don't really celebrate here in NZ, although every year it gains in popularity.  Back in the dark ages when the mumster was at school, they were taught that it was an American tradition, but mums school had a Halloween competition and dance.  Mum does remember only telling her mum and dad a couple of days before, so there was a rushed visit to the shops for material and a witches dress and cloak were made.  A paper mache hat was moulded and painted.  Mum won some sweets, and she got a lot of wear out of that outfit, but no photos exist that she knows of.

Another rainy, windy and cold spring day here, we sure are sick of the poor weather we have been having.  Mum did decide though that she should crack open the recipe books, as she has been a bored by her cooking lately.  She tried a Jamie Oliver 30 minute recipe of Pork chops with potatoes and cabbage.  She didn't add the mint sauce to the cabbage like Jamie said - yuck!!  She loved the potatoes, they were cooked with lemon and salt and pepper in the microwave, then grainy mustard, olive oil and parsley were added.  They tasted yummy, like restaurant style fancy potatoes.  The pork chops were ok, mum liked the addition of sage and garlic to the cooking, but is on the fence about the fennel seeds aniseed taste.  She feels good about trying something new.

Have a great night, watch something scary!!

We're Back!!!

The mumster has made it home to me this evening.  She got to have a lovely visit with her family.  She got to see Big Uncle, SIL and Bud and Belle and Gdad.  She ate lots of food and made merry with the family.  The weather was lovely and hot in the hometown, and mum enjoyed seeing some sunshine.  She managed to get help and help her brother in Gdads garden, they trimmed and mowed, and mum accidentaly chopped down half of his lemon tree - oops.

So mum has cooked some dinner, fed me some feast and has got the washing machine running.  Soon we will be snuggling up on the bed, and it will be business back to normal.  We will catch up with you all soon!!

Happy Mumster Birthday

Happy Birthday to my mumster!!!   I let her sleep in til  06.10am, when I woked her up to remind her to go to work.  Of course she wasn't working today, so went back to sleep.  She then got up and had mud cake for breakfast, cos it's her birthday.  Her tummy was a bit upset though, she thinks because of the chicken curry she had for dinner last night.   So she went back to bed to read for a while, as the day was stormy again with pounding rain and big winds.

Her phone went off, and a friend was at the airport and had her flight delayed due to the weather, so was wondering if she could take mum to lunch.  So mum said yes, and then had a quick shower and got herself dressed.  They had a lovely day out, even if the weather didn't agree they looked at lovely shops and had a tasty lunch (mum had fish and chips and a big salad).  Her friend headed off to the airport again, and mum went to the library to get herself a good book to read.

She then went off and met with another bestie for a bit of shopping, which was fun even though mum didn't buy anything.  They then met another friend for a tasty dinner, mum had asparagus risotto for her tea.  Then home for cuddles with me!!  What a day!!  Mum feels so spoilt, her friends were very kind.

Lucky Mum

Not much outside time today as it was stormy yet again.  Strong old winds and showers off and on.   So these photos are from yesterday.  Mum ventured out to the supermarket and the library, and that was about it.  When she came home she found the nice present I left her - a pile of vomit on the sleeve of her dressing gown that was newly washed and was drying.  Lucky mum!!  So back to the wash it goes.

Senior Moment

Hahaha mum wants to apologise for yesterdays senior moment.  Today is Wednesday, and as NZ is ahead on the time game, many of you got to read yesterdays post on Monday.  Poor mum is a bit sleep deprived after a week of early starts.  So today I got to stick my head in her work shoes and have a little sniff party - my head was moving so fast, mum got some crazy shots.

So enjoy your Wednesday everybuddy!!

Oh and big purrs to my friend Ginger Jasper - we are thinking of you and your family my friend.

Scratching Posts

Who needs to spend lots of dollars to buy fancy scatching posts for me to have in the house, when there is built in equipment everywhere.  Mum laughs, as I climb this tree several times a day just scratching with my paws.  Can you see me up the tree?

Snoozy Sunday

I sent the mumster off to work again at 6:40 this morning, she does admit to being a touch tired.  She had a good day at work, nice company and not too frantic, and before you know it she was home again.  We got a touch of garden time which was nice but by 5pm mum was flagging, so she and I took a nap.  She only meant to close her eyes for a half hour, but of course she woke at 7.15pm just in time to cook her dinner and get the can of feast open.

Ohhh and she took an hour or so to water the garden.  Then she saw the weather report for the week, and found that we are due for rain again for a few days.  Oh well.  In fact we shouldn't complain about all the rain we have been having, as lots of places in Australia are crying out for rain at the moment as they are having lots of bushfires.

Hope you all got to take it easy this Sunday.

Long Day Caturday

Hey kitsters, how you doing today?  Has it been fab for you?   Our day has been a bit long.  The mumster got up at 5am to head to work.  Work was good, but mum was a bit sad to miss such a nice sunny day by being inside all day.  Never mind, it was her turn and she could use the extra bit of cash working the weekend earns.

Mum then rushed home and sat in the sun with me for half an hour, before feeding me my feast and then heading out.  She got dressed and went and met with her besties for a tasty dinner, a fancy Wagu beef burger.  Then she went and saw Gravity at the cinema.  Wowser - what a movie.  For a movie with only two people and set in space, it was kind of amazing and very clever.   Worth paying to see it in 3D.

Anyways we are back home, the sheets are in the drier so mum is waiting to make the bed, then she is off to read her book for a while before we start our snoozing.

Enjoy your Caturday everybuddy!!!

Garden in a Garden

My little flowers managed to survive the storm earlier in the week and even though we thought we had lost some flowers, they are hanging in there.  The wind has been whipping around the garden today again, but we are hoping to have some sunshines for the weekend.  Mum loves her little flowers and hopes that they last for a while, as she is not known for her green thumbs.

Friday night was leftover mince and chilli bean nachos for mum and some fancy feast for me.  At the moment I am on the rung, snuggling up next to mums stinky work shoes.  Who needs a night on the town?  We are happy relaxing at home.

Relaxaday

The mumster and I had a little relaxing day today.  We got to sleep in, and mum spent an hour getting dressed and ready, not that you could tell the difference.  The sun was a shining and had a lot of warmth and was fabulous.  It is much cooler inside the house, than out in the garden so the doors were opened while some of the chores were done.

Mum is still obsessed with listening to Desert Island Discs, so she went for a walk.  A quick stop at the post office was made and then a visit to the library, only four books today.  Then a little clothes browsing and essentials at the supermarket, toothpaste, buns, ham, coleslaw, grapes, mandarins, sour creams and some mince.  So mum then had a roll sitting in the sun reading her book and talking to me.  She made some mince/chilli bean nachos for her dinner and I had the fancy feast.

She has to admit to a quick nap then dinner was digested.  A bit of x-factor and Bobs burgers, then mum is going to continue on with reading her book.  She has six days of work to get though now - the countdown is on.

OOPs

The mumster felt sooooooo bad that she forgotted my birthday yesterday.  Luckily all of my good friends remembered and were kind enough to wish me well - thank you my friends.  Mum gave me snuggles and some treaties, and we did have a big snuggle on the bed as it was a cool and windy stormy night.  Today we woke up and the winds had gone, but there was an awful lot of rain.  Our flowers seemed to have survived, just lots of leaves and mud in the garden.  Still watching the news, lots of others have fared much worse with flooding and slips.

We made sure to feed the birds in the backyard, they were a bit hungry after two stormy days and are eating the bread and fruit we have left for them.  The mum is roasting a nice chicken with potatoes and veg for her dinner, and a tasty fancy feast for me.

Have a good day/night everybuddy.

Stormy City & OHHHHH OHHH Forgotten Birthday

Last night, in a late afternoon frenzy, mum planted the flowers that she bought at the garden centre to brighten our deck.  So of course today there is a big old windy and wet storm.  We hope they survive.  A good excuse to sit on the couch tonight and watch some bad television programmes.

Thanks for all the nice comments about yesterdays photo - we truly love it and are thinking that we should just keep the picture up there to make us smile.

Have a great week everybody.

OHHH OHHHH the mumster forgotted that it was my BIRTHDAY!!!!  Thank you soooo much Andrea and the Celestial Kitties for remembering.  She has come in and smothered me with kisses and will give me treats.  It is still horrible outside so we will snuggle all night together to keep warm.  This year I am a big seven years old!!

Bliss

Today was a lovely day.  Mum laughed her head off trying to get these pictures of me today.  I was rolling around in the grass, and even though the light wasn't good, she still managed a couple of priceless shots.

After days of rain, we had some sunshine so the lawns got mowed, new flowers got planted.  A walk was taken, t-shirts bought, lunch with a friend, phone calls with family and dinner on the couch were all done.

Hope you had a fabulous Sunday - and found your bit of bliss.

Caturday

We had a good Caturday here at chez Q,  Mum got up and did some housie work, and I had a snooze.   I sent her off for lunch with some friends, and I took a nap.  We sat and enjoyed some afternoon sun in the garden, and then I sent her off to work, while I took my beauty rest.

When she got home the computer was being real annoying and it has taken her an hour to get this post loaded up.  So us ladies are off to bed so we can get ready for Sunday.

Hope you all enjoy your Caturday.

Finally It's Friday

Finally it is Friday here at Chez Q.  Mums germs are going away, she has had a bit of cabin fever after being at home sick for several days.  I helped her this morning to do some chores.  We picked up a few weeds in the morning, before the heavy rain started and now it is pouring outside, so no more gardening.  Instead a bit of washing is being done and a few loads of dishes.

The bed is being made and mum and I will have an early Friday night together, so we are prepared for our weekend.  Hope you are all having a great Friday and having some fun.

Looking

Everybuddy was asking after yesterdays post what I was looking at?  You guessed right, it was the birdies on the shed roof eating the leftover bread and apples.  The truth is that I was looking anywhere but at the camera.  Much as the photographer likes to chase me around, I don't usually like to look at the camera and try my best to look away.  She still doesn't give up though.

Airation

During the weekend, while the sun was shining the mumster put her pillows outside to air out.  Of course I had to explore and check that she was doing it right.

Thanks for the well wishes, the mumster has stayed home with me and slept the morning away.  She is aches everywhere, including her head and her chest and sinuses feel blocked up.  Enough about her though - I am peachy fine and enjoying having her warm lumps to snuggle against.

Enjoy your day everybuddy.

Green Garden

Now we have had a week of daylight savings, mum is over her sleepiness and beginning to enjoy the evenings.  She gets to dip outside and pull out weeds in the evenings.  Today was a good day at work, and mum was glad to finish and get home.  She feels she is brewing another cold - lucky old her.  The germs keep coming at her, so it is early to bed for her with a lemsip.

Ohh ohh

Ohhh ohhh the mumster went to the wool store yesterday.  Just looking she said.  Look what she came home with - more stuff for a new hobby!!  She has dreams of making a peggy square blanket - she is not sure of her skill level.  She last made one when she was ten (a long long time ago).

So she figures it might be a good ten years before she gets finished, so don't be looking for it on the bed anytime soon.  She blames pinterest for giving her grand ideas.

Caturday Chilling

Are you chilling out on your Caturday yet?  We know the mumsters and dadsters are often running around doing lots of chores and stuff, but it is a perfect day for just stretching out and relaxing.  We got to have a sleep in which was lovely.  Mum made some lunch before she made a quick wander into town.  She had to buy a new home phone, cos ours was a bit broken.  Luckily there was 15% off the one she wanted, which made it more reasonable, yippee for a bargin.

Mum made a quick visit to the library to stock up on more books, then made a mad dash home to spend the afternoon and evening with me.  Ahhhh life is good!!!!

Hope you all enjoy your Caturday too.

What you waiting for?

What you waiting for?  It's the weekend, time to get your skates on and get busy!!!  Mum and I are trying to get some chores done tonight, so there can be some relaxing done for the rest of the weekend.  The lawn is already mowed and the leaves racked up, the towels are drying and the clothes are being washed.   Soon, we will have the dishes washed and the living room tidied.  Then mum better sit down and do some relaxing!!

We are looking forward to the weekend, two days together, and lots of fun stuff between now and Monday!!  Enjoy!!

Hello October - Signs of Spring

The mumster and I had a morning to share together.  After days of spring rain, we woke to beautiful sunshine.  Mum had a banana for her breakfast, and headed off to the supermarket, cos shock and horror we had run out of fancy feast.  She got back and did some weeding in the garden, and made a beef salad for her lunch, where she joined me on the deck.  It is soo nice to be able to sit out in the garden and soak up the sunbeams, a sure sign that spring is here to stay.  Ohhh and Hello to October, you are one of our favourite months.
