Mum had a busy day at the office.  She is on day six of eight, the downward slope and is hanging out til she gets Sunday and Monday off.  What made mum happy today?  Well she was pleased that with January at an end, she has taken her lunch every day of the month and not bought the pricey food.  Only eleven months to go!!

Gorgeous Summer

Here I am - Queen of the street.

Mum doesn't mean to harp on about the weather - but she will anyway.  The past week has been gorgeous, with blue skies and warm days with a touch of breeze.  Summer perfect.  Mum is addicted to our metservice website, cos her first day off in eight days will be Monday.  Guess which day has rain forecast?

Eye Update

Friends have been asking how my eyes are.  They have improved in the past week, the goobers are gone and I have stopped sneezing, so mum is pretty sure I just had more cold/flu.  She says my behaviours are back to normal and I am talking to mum as usual, so she knows I feel better.

The vets have been ringing saying mum has to bring me in for a checkup again.  Mum knows she has to do it, but she knows that I am back to normal, and that is what they are going to say.  It is not really an issue of money, although mum knows that is a little bit of what is bothering her.  I guess she is thinking of me, as she knows that the vets visits wind me up, and make me a bit grumpity.

Mum is much happier that I am happier.

This Could Be Me

Mum found this on the internets last night.  She said I could have modelled for it.  Except I do like to be scatched at the bottom of my tail on my back.

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Sunny Day Plan

When the day is sunny and warm, like today - which was uber hot.  I go and hide in my nest.  My nest is in the middle of these plants at the front of our house.  It keeps me protected, as I like under some of the big fronds.
But if I hear my mum shuffling past I meow out at her.

Tonight when she got home, I was sitting by the gate waiting for her, looking up the street - cute.

Glorious Caturday

Mum says we have been lucky and had two glorious days of sunshine in a row.  We know that many of our friends are cold, and are living in snow.  So these photos are for you.  This is our backyard - with palm trees.      We know we are lucky.
It is sooo hot, that I try and find a shady spot to snooze in.  Like under mums chair.
Just taking it easy in my special tent.

Enjoy your Caturday everybuddy!!

Heading Out

It was a lovely sunny day here, so the doors were open and I was off to have adventures.  Like lie in the shade in the leaves, lie under mums chair and lie in the bushes.  Life is tough.

Mum headed out to visit with the besties and eat some uber super noodles.  A great fresh bowl of veg, chicken and thai noodles that made mums tummy very full.  She got home in time to give me my antibiotics and fancy feast and to watch a bit of reality tv.

Mum has to work over the weekend - she hopes she will get time to post, but if we don't we hope you enjoy yourself and have a good time with the family.

Gratitudeness

We had a conversation with a friend yesterday about being grateful.  Grateful for the small things.  Grateful that mum got called in last night, which helps pay for the vet bills.  It also helps that mum got the day off to spend with me.  I have been sleeping all day and are still not quite myself.
Mum also got a chance to go the library and get some good books.  She loves having a good pile of stories to read.
Mum is also grateful that a rainy afternoon prevents her from doing gardening, and that she can sit on the couch and watch Brave on DVD.  She likes that Disney have made a movie with a kick arse girl in the lead.
Mum is also pleased that she could go to the supermarket and stock up.  In fact she went to two today - one  at 7am on the way home, and another on the way back from the library.  Mum loves to have a few rolls on hand - just in case there is a bathroom emergency.  She was beginning to feel anxious as she only had three rolls left.

Mum also got some yummies to have for dinner, and as she is working over the weekend there should be lots of leftovers for all of her meals.  Tonight, as it is chilly she is going to put some lamb in the oven, and make mashed potatoes with peas.  Me I am going to have the fancy feast, as I don't like people food and won't eat the lamb!

Have a lovely day everybuddy - we hope you find some things that make you happy today.

Back

Thank you for all of your lovely purrs.  Mum got to go from work and took me to the vet.  It was a new doctor on duty, so we had to tell the story about what went on before.  She said my eyelids looked sore and full of pus again, but my eye looked ok. When mum got home I was asleep, and my eye all closed up, but being shoved in the PTU made my eyes open wide.

So I have some liquid antibiotics that might be a bit easier than pills and we will see how it goes for the next few days.  I was lucky to be able to come home with mum, have had my fancy feast and am off for a snooze.

Sore Eyes Again

Mum got home tonight, and my eye looks sore again.  The good thing is that I wasn't acting sick.  So she has made me a booking for the vet on Wednesday.  She is hoping that it looks better in the morning, but somehow she senses I will be going back to see the doctor.

Relaxacation

Our three day weekend has been pure relaxacation.  Mum and I had a couple of sleep ins, lots of reading and relaxing time, and we got to potter in the garden too,
Today mum tackled a job in the garden that she had been avoiding  for some time.  The dreaded clean out of the drain.  The one that had leaves in it and seemed to be blocked for the past couple of weeks.
She did not take any pictures - and you'll be glad that she did not capture the smell.  Pure stinkerooni!!!  Bluck!!!!  She did kind of laugh at herself dry retching as she was trying to shovel the rubbish into the bag.
So I'm having  a fancy feast, and mum is making a salad with a salmon fillet for her dinner.    Then we are going to chill out for a few hours.

Snoozy Sunday

After yesterdays blowfest here in Wellington, the wind and clouds had gone, so I was able to get some snoozing done outside.  Mum let the doors open and aired the house.  She had important jobs, like painting her toenails blue and reading her book - awesome!!!!
The hotness was almost too much for mum, so she headed to town to meet a bestie to see Life of Pi.  She said it was worthy of a 4/5 and it was worth seeing in 3D, as it was a beautiful thing to see.  She hadn't read the book, but knew what the story was about.  Then mum and her bestie went and feasted by having a dinner sitting beside the sea, a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening.

After a chat to the family and Gdad, mum is on the couch watching the Downton Abbey Christmas special, which in usual NZ form is playing several weeks post Christmas.  Lucky old us too as we have tomorrow off work and another day of relaxing together.

Enjoy your Sleepy Sunday.

Hooray for Caturday

Hooray for Caturday!!!  It is a week since I have been home and I'm enjoying it.  Mum was uber tired last night, so she was only up for a casual day today.  She had some friends come for lunch, and it was a lovely catch up with them.  She then went into town to the library and to do some chores, which ended up with a four hour walk, and now mum has her slippers on and her feet up.
It was too windy to eat outside today, so mum pulled the indoor chair inside, and everybody got a seat in the kitchen.  So after a tasty tea of steak, mashed potatoes and carrots, mum is thinking that a wee bit of vanilla icecream and strawberries will finish off the evening nicely.  Then mum is going to curl up on the bed with me for a snoozearama.

Have a great Caturday everybuddy!!

Whatsthat?

Whatsthat you saying?  A 3 day weekend?  Wowza?  Best you get some sleep then mum, especially as you worked late last night and thought that you had put your alarm on for 6.45, but put it on for 7.45 instead!!  That will teach you for not wanting me to wake you up early!

Have a good weekend everybuddy!!

This Years Model

Every summer, mum buys a new pair of birkenstocks.  This years are purple, and I loves them.
Mum says it is a simple plan, as summer isn't long or too hot where we live, and one pair of sandals goes with most things mum wears.  She listens to the advice she heard on Oprah - Goes with nothing, goes with everything.
This is the weather cam over our city at 11:20am.  Thunderstorms rolling in for the afternoon.
Maybe mum should buy some rainboots as well?

Naperooni

We are feeling a bit swamped as it has been raining here for three days in a row.  We're not complaining, as our farmers can do with the rain, and the garden will be properly wet.  NZ is a little bit parched at the moment, not Australia dry, but many of our fields and hills have gone brown and crispy.

So, there is not much else to do at the moment but to take long naps and relax.  This morning mum was pleased that I did not wake her til 6am for my crunchies.  So off for another naperooni - have a lovely day.

Mondayitis

Mum says it is a good job I am so cute.  She is sure that no-one at the cattery got up at 3am or 5.30am to hand deliver biscuits into my bowl.  I was just helping her get up at 6am.

So, a rainy Monday here in the city.  We wish the rainclouds would head towards all of our friends who live in Australia who need it more than us.

Christmas Present - Success!!

Cos I was sick on Christmas, mum said Santa saved my present til today.  I wonder what it is?
A noo scratcher!!!  Santa you knew just what I wanted!!!
Mmmmm - I'm going to lick all of the catnip off first.
Then fall into a catnip induced haze - bliss!!!

Santa I loves yoo.

HOME

I has just got home to Chez Q.  Mum tried to get a picture of me but I am busy zooming around catching up on a week of lost smells.

I got a clean bill of health - mum got a big bill $400.  Oh well - lucky she loves toast.

We're off to enjoy our Caturday.

Only Lonely

I am the only lonely in the hospital tonight.  One more sleep to go.  Meanwhile back at Chez Q  mum has been redecorating.  She got some new cushions to give a bit of summer colour.  Don't ask her how many cushions she owns (maybe more than her fingers and toes - don't judge).
She also got some little yellow bits and pieces to add touches of brightness.
What she really needs is a little grey cat.  That would make the house look better.

Visiting Time

Mum comes to visit me every day.  This is how I was looking this afternoon, much better than last week.  The vet still says that it will be Saturday before I can go home - grrrrrr!
Mum lets me out of my cage when she visits me.  I like to sniff the other cages on my side.  There are no other cats on my side, but I can hear the others on the other side of the room.
I like to sniff the buckets and put my paws up and check out the shelves.
I loves to sniff this drain, and check to see if I am skinny enough to squeeze out, like a great escape.  Not skinny enough yet.
More shelves to check out.  I'm ready to check out now.  Mum just wants me home too.  When she left, I had gone back into my cage and curled up for a snooze.  Oh - she smuggled in some temptations for me, so I could have a little treat.

Betterer

Mum says I am looking betterer tonight.  I called out to her tonight when she arrived.  Truly though my only thought was to get out of my cage and escape.  Mum knows I have the cabin fever and really really want to go home.  She usually visits for about an hour, letting me have a stretch and run around on the floor by my cage and sniffing all the good smells at the vets.  She tells me about my day, and tries to talk to me.  Hopefully three more sleeps and I can go home to our house.
On Saturday, after visiting me, mum went and got some flowers to brighten the house.  When she came round the corner, she ran into a chap she knew from her work.  He retired a year ago, and him and his wife were cleaning out the house and were getting rid of stuff at the charity shop.  They were dropping off this standing lamp, and mum asked if she could buy it off them.  They gave it to mum - so mum gave them the bunch of flowers she had bought.

Before christmas mum had seen a lovely painted lamp like this at a market with a funky lampshade, which mum thinks is what she will do with this lamp.  Good on you mum.

Good News/Bad News

The good news is that I did a pooh overnight!!  Hip hip hooray!!  My eyes are looking much better and I was very talkative with my mum and wanted to do lots of exploring.  She came for an hours visit.  She said it was funny - I was happy to explore but as soon as I heard anyone come close to the door I scooted straight into the back of  my cage, hiding from the girls.
Now to the bad news.  The vet looked at my eyes this morning, and  although they look betterer, I still have some conjunctivitis in both eyes.  Her advice is that I'm going to have to stay till CATURDAY!!
These photos are from last Caturday, and the girls have been busy brushing me everyday.  My fur is now soo soft, I look like a showcat!!

Thanks for all of your well wishes.  Me and mum are fine.  She knows I am in a safe place and getting looked after, although she misses me at home.
