Hello Caturday!!!

Hello kitties - did you sleep in with your person like me this morning, or did you wake them up super early for no real reason?  It's always good to keep them on their toes!

Our Caturday sleep in was nice.  Mum snoozed after the alarm went off, and then had to grab her dressing gown when the courier man knocked on the door.  Poor fellow, he must see people in all kinds of states.
Mum then did the washing and a few chores, then she walked into town as it was lovely and sunny.  She then caught a bus and went visiting.

Her and a bestie went to a movie.  They saw A Million Ways to Die in the West - it was baaaaaaaaaaaaaad, and not in the so bad it was good way.  It was awful, not funny, crude 14 year old boy toilet and sex humour and just horrible.  In fact mum thinks it is the worst movie she has seen in years, and she's seen a lot.  She would only rate it a 1/5 and is generous in giving it that one, if only because Charlize Theron and Liam Neeson appear.  The saving grace was that it was mums friends choice of movie to see, so at least mum doesn't have to take the blame for this one.

Her bestie and her tried eating somewhere new.  They went to and Indian Restaurant across the road from the cinema.  When they arrived they said that it would be about 20 minutes before they got their meals as they were busy, in fact it was a one hour wait.  The food was nice, but nothing that would make mum return and the restaurant was cold, and in need of heaters.  As it the official start of our winter tomorrow, the weather has chilled down overnight dropping to freezing and feeling frosty.

So mum then got to come home and eat chocolates on the couch with me.  Now we are off to bed with a book and the electric blanket on.  Hope you have all had a great Caturday too!!

Hooray

The weekend has arrived - hooray!!!  I know I don't look too pleased in this photo - that's cos the paparazzi won't leave you alone to get your snooze on sometime.  Mum has all kinds of relaxing stuff planned, sleeping, eating, reading, chatting, walking, shopping, snoozing, cooking, napping as well as a few chores sprinkled in there and there.

Hope you all have a fab weekend planned too.  See you on Caturday!!

Poppy Door

Our new house is ok.  We aren't going to lie, we don't love it here, it is quite expensive small and rundown, the garden is a bit of a shambles, but we are trying to look on the bright side of things.  It is close to mums work and she doesn't have any travel costs, and it does have a garden that I can explore and sit in.  It is off the street so there are no cars straight outside.  A cat door was important, and mum is glad I am happy using it.

We know we were lucky living in our last house, and this doesn't have to be forever.  So we try and make it feel like our place with our stuff around, cosy for me and mum.  We also know that we are lucky to be able to just about afford to live without sharing the space with others, and many kitties don't get to go outside like me.

James Blunt

So mum has to revise her mumster rules she thinks.  No going out on a school night is one that she usually sticks too.  However tonight one of her besties had got concert tickets to see James Blunt.  It was an awesome show, although mums ears may be ringing slightly.   She knew lots more songs than she thought she would.  He certainly is very talented, singing strongly throughout without backing tapes or backup singers.  Mum and her bestie were certainly not the eldest in the crowd and the ages ranged from about 10-70 with everyone enjoying it.   He only has one other NZ concert tomorrow night in Auckland and then about 10 Australian gigs, all worth going to, as he was awesome.

Me I stayed home and manned the bed.  I kept it warm and cosy.  Job well done.

While you are working

While you are working, I am snuggled up on your bed keeping warm.  Mum let me snooze on her fleecy sheets, but when she came home there was a brown smear on them.  Yuck!!  So now there are new sheets on the bed and the covers are pulled up tight.

The southern parts of NZ got a whole lot of snow yesterday and today, and we just have a sudden drop in temperature.  But our heat pump and electric  blanket will keep us toasty warm.

Mum had a busy shift.  No dinner break for her, so it was pumpkin soup and toast at half past eleven tonight.  That way her tummy is full and won't wake her up.

Sweet dreams everybuddy.

Sunday Night

Sunday nights usually follow the same plan in our house.  Mum will try her best to avoid going anywhere in the afternoon, and make sure that she is at home with me by 4pm at the latest.  Today she had no trouble sticking to that plan, as she stayed at home.  No makeup, no doing the hair, just casual clothes, a little sleep in, a little book reading, a little house keeping and a little nap.  Dinner was easy, just some pumpkin soup and toast for her and a little fancy feast for me.  Mum then usually rings Gdad for a chat, and I took myself off to bed, and as you can see are all snuggled up.  It is wild and windy outside, so I should stay in all night.  In fact mum is sitting on the bed now, typing right next to me.

Mum was telling Gdad this week about one of her patients.  She held mums hand and said that Mum was going off and travelling soon.  Mum smiled, and the lady told her she was a psychic and that she thought all mums dreams would come true by the end of the year.  That made mum smile.  The next morning she woke up having a dream that her and Gdad were in London.  Mum planned that they would go to the Imperial war museum for the morning and drive by Buckingham Palace in the afternoon.  Imagine that?  Mum might even get to meet Queenie!!!  Anyway it has made mum smile all week.

Hope you all get to have a warm and cosy Sunday evening.

Lovely Caturday

Hey Kitty Cats - are you out celebrating Caturday?  The bestest day of the cat week!!

We had a little old sleep in, and then I sent the mumster out into the rain and wind.  She met some friends for a little wander and a little French lunch which was nice.  She tried to go the market, but the heavens opened so she only grabbed one bunch of coriander.

Then she was off into town to meet a bestie for a wander and some cheap eats.  So she has come home with a full belly and happy to have met up with her friends.  A little feast and a snuggle from me, a little tv on the couch and then a little read in bed and all in all it has been a good Caturday.

Hope you are all having some fun too!!

TGIF

Thank goodiness it is Friday night and the weekend stretches ahead of us, full of promise but we know it will race ahead and it will be Sunday night before we know it.  In the meantime, work is over for the week, dinner is made and the relaxing has begun.  Not sure if we will get any sunbeams this weekend, the forecast looked all windy and wet.  Good weather for just chilling out and relaxing.

Mum has caught up on a couple of her programmes, Nurse Jackie is back on, she still likes Scandal, and Graham Norton is a good Friday night laugh.

Hope you are all ready for your weekend.  Countdown to Caturday has started!!

Middle Aged Mumster Moment

So mum has to admit to a middle aged mumster moment.  Monday she went to the supermarket and remembered to buy some washing powder.  She did not remember that she doesn't have a front loader though, hers is a top loader washing machine.  Tuesday she had to get a couple more things at the supermarket, so she picked up some more washing powder.  Do you think she got the right one?   Of course not!!!  She got front loader again!!

We realize that this is a first world problem.  Of course mum will use the powder, as I am sure there is minimal difference, probably just less sudsy stuff.  If any washing machine powder companies are interested in sponsoring a  middle aged mumster - we are open to offers.

Mild

The weather has been super kind to us again this week, with some rays for sunbaking and getting mums washing dry.  There are two little benches on the little deck, and they get a bit of the sun, enough to warm my kitty body.  We even had doors and windows open to freshen up the house this evening, til about 9pm.  We can feel the chill coming though, and are glad for a few quilts on the bed to keep warm.

Can you see the white house in the back of this garden, it has a red stripe around it?  Turns out big uncle used to live there over twenty five years ago when he was a young man.  So he knew where to come when he came to visit us, as our house is only round the corner.

Mum is glad that after two early shifts this week, we will get a sleep in the next two days which will be nice.  Try as she might to get into bed before 10:30pm, the lights are seldom out before midnight, and then having to get up at 5 or 6am makes for not too much sleep.

Have a good Tuesday everybuddy.

Dinner Time

Dinner time was early at our house tonight.  Mum had a 7am start, but luckily that means a 3pm finish.  She stopped off for groceries but was home by 4.30pm and hungry.  So she microwaved her leftovers and served up a fancy feast for me.  Then she thought she should get out the vacumn cleaner to hoover up all the biscuits I had spilled out of my bowl.  Such old ladies!!!

Hope you have all had a good start to your week.

Pattern

We are discovering a pattern with our Sundays.  The main pattern is lazy or to make us feel better we might call it relaxing.  Mums sleepless week has caught up with her and we had a lie in til 9am.  A leisurely brunch was eaten while mum  whizzed some clothes around in the washing machine.  The day was mild and sunny meaning the towels could dry outside on the washing line, truly a blessing for this time of the year.

Although she had the best of intentions to do lots of stuff, her book was calling and we even managed a wee afternoon nap.  A fancy feast was released for me, and mum made mashed potatoes, sausages and peas for herself for dinner, leaving her lots of leftovers for the next night.

Hope your Sunday is just as lazy/relaxing as ours.

Caturday is Here!!

We were lucky and got a sunny bright Caturday!!!  Just lovely.  I let the mumster have a sleep in while I rolled around outside this morning.  Mum then had a nice brunch of fresh bread rolls with coleslaw and ham.
She let me have a bit of ham, and I did my usual trick of sniffing it and then walking away.  I  came back in an hour and then ate the little bit she left me.  By then she had eaten all the rest, so I only got a little treat.

Mum then went out and met a bestie for a while and they went for a walk and then went to see The Grand Budapest Hotel.  Mum did admit to dosing off for a while.  It was ok, very pretty to look at and kooky like all Wes Anderson movies, mum just thinks that the story wasn't particularly clever or funny.  She does love listening to Ralph Fiennes though, such a silky voice.  Dinner was Vietnamese  chicken noodles loaded with tonnes of veg.    Like all old ladies, mum was most happy to be home on her own couch by 8pm after an afternoon out.

Fancy feast was served, a bit of blogging done, and we are ready to be tucked  up in bed by 11pm.  All is right in the world.  Enjoy your Caturday everybuddy!!

Scratchathon

Mum has noticed that I have been using this bit of the deck as my own personal scratching pad.  She is not sure how to stop it, and she knows that it is tricky, as I don't have all the lovely trees that I used to climb at our old place to sharpen my claws.  She has had scratching poles for me before, but I don't like to use them.  I guess the good thing is that the deck is old and worn, and could do with replacing anyway, so she doesn't feel too bad and at least I am not scratching up anything inside.

What do you like to scratch on?

Napaliscious

After getting up at 6am, which we know is not super early for many of you, mum felt the need to take a wee after dinner nap.  Her eyes were closing at 5.30pm, so she invited me to come and curl up on her bed for an hour or so.  She is on-call tonight, and after losing one nights sleep earlier in the week due to going in to  work at early o'clock, she knew she needed a wee nap.  I was happy to oblige and help her snooze.

So we are looking forward to the weekend and a chance to catch up on even more snoozes.

Hope you all got enough napping done today.  Truth be told I sometimes like to get a good 23 hours of snoozing done, especially in the winter time.

Morning Skies

Mum was looking out the window this morning, and admired the autumn skies which were rather pretty, but of course it bought rain to us in the afternoon.  Everyone has been talking about the weather here, how mild it has been, and how we are all bracing for the chills to come.  After the wild weather that the Northern hemisphere had this year, we can't complain at all - although we like too.

So even though the mumster had an early start this morning, she has to stay up a while longer as she is on call tonight.  So she is braced and ready in case she gets called in.  Her clothes are ready to be jumped into, and the coat and scarf are by the door.

Sunbeamery

We have been blessed with some unusual late autumn seasonal sunbeams.  Most unusual for this time of year.  Mum even managed to get the sheets dry outside yesterday although the towels still needed to dry in our living room slash laundry.

Please ignore all the laundry drying above me.  At least it makes the living room smell fresh.

Tonight mum was lucky and got to go out.  She went and saw Billy Connelly, who is on tour here.  She loves him, loves that he makes his comedy act like a circling set of stories about family, friends, jobs and people he has met, and he seems to crack himself up laughing at stories he has told a hundred times.  I guess it is much like an actor standing up giving a one man show every night.  It was only slightly spoiled by the woman at the end of mums row, who arrived late climbing over everybody and then proceeded to scream loudly at everything he said.  There is always one isn't there?  Even though it started at 8pm, it was all over at 10pm - while quite short mum understands that Mr Connelly needs his rest, and as mum is getting older she appreciates being home by 10:30pm too as that is late enough on a school night and mum is on-call tomorrow night so is keen to hit the pillows.

Sweet dreams and sunbeams everybuddy.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there.  We hope you got to have a lovely day to spend with your lovies today.  Me and my mumster had a quiet day at home, got some washing done, watched some tv together and just chilled out.  Very enjoyable.

Caturday

Wow we were lucky and got a good sunny Caturday.  In fact we have had more sunshine this week than rain, which is great for this time of year. There is a crispness to the air though, a slight chill peaking through.  Mum and I slept in this morning which was just lovely.  A leisurely breakfast was had while the washing machine washed mums uniforms and knickers.

I then needed a nap while I sent mum out to do some chores and she took a little walk alongside the harbour which she enjoyed.  A visit to the supermarket bought her home in the early evening with some fish for her dinner and some feast for mine.  She did laugh as after dinner I did some crazy cat zooming around before climbing on her lap a record 8 times for little 10 minute micro naps.  Mum caught up on a couple of episodes of Scandal - she loves that show.

Now as midnight creeps in, it is time to retire to the bedroom with a good book and dreams of a lovely Mothers Day Sunday.

Finally Friday

Boy - are we glad it is finally Friday.  Mum says this feels like it has been a long long fortnight.  She has to work this afternoon and then the weekend will begin at midnight.  She got home real late last night, and thought we had already done a post for Thursday.  So sorry we forgot.

This morning mum was up early to head to her hairdresser.  Her hairdresser has moved salons, and the salon is now only a five minute walk away which is good.  So mum has the greys covered up and the ends chopped off, so she feels fresh.  The colour is a bit darker for the winter which mum likes.

We had the doors and windows open for a while, but is is a bit chilly so the heat pump is on now for a little bit before mum heads off to work.  She doesn't leave any heating on while she is at work,, but I have lots of cosy spots to curl up in to keep warm til mum gets back.

Hope you are all having a fabulous Friday - see you on Caturday!!!

Tuesday Sunbeams

After a stormy start to the week yesterday, today we awoke to some warm sunbeams.  Mum opened the doors and windows and let the sun shine and warmth in.  The washing was done, and dried out on the line which was good.  Dishes were done, and mum had a nice minestrone soup with toast, a lovely late autumn lunch.  Then she went off to work for the afternoon leaving me to snooze, and to get my feast when she got home.  She stopped off at the supermarket, as she was short of rubbish bags and stocked up, as the weather is due to get nasty in the next couple of days.

Do you see that I am napping on my favourite bag?  I still love to sleep in it and sleep on top. Either way is a pleasure.

And yes friends I do have a pre sleep snooze.  I often go to bed on a normal night after I have had my feast for dinner.  I pre snooze from 6pm- 11pm.  The mumster joins me for the main snoozefest 11pm- 7am.  I then get up for breakfast and a little shuffle around, and then come backs and sleep most of the day away on my bag.  Life is good for me!!

Hope you all have a lovely day!!

Day Off

The mumster was pleased to have a little sleep in this morning with me.  She dug some things out of storage and found her gloves, which was good as it was a windy wet day.  She visited a new hair salon to make an appointment, and her old hairdresser was working there, so she is due on Friday morning to get her hair all sparkly and new again!!

As the afternoon was nasty, mum headed to the movies to see The Invisible Woman, a movie about Charles Dickens and his secret mistress.  It is possibly mums favourite type of drama, a historical drama with lots of hoop skirts and pretty bonnets.  She likes it when the characters looked lived in, where their hair and makeup seems to fit with the times, rather than been Hollywoodised and they are too picture perfect.  It was a very slow movie, but mum and the other four in the cinema enjoyed it.  She went to the local arthouse cinema that has comfortable couches and cushions, a perfect way to spend a wild wet afternoon off.

Once a couple of chores were done - isn't going to the post office tedious - mum got home to make Nasi Goreng, an Indonesian Fried Rice dish for her dinner, and she has lots of yummy leftovers for the next couple of evenings.  Dishes were done, family phoned up and now she is going to settle down and watch some Greys Anatomy.  Me - I'm snoozing in the bedroom ready for bed.

Belated Caturday

Hello My lovelies,
Sorry that we missed out posting on Caturday, but the mumster got stuck at work for a long 12 hours yesterday, and when she crawled home before midnight, she only had the energy to eat some high carb/low nutrient food, watch some trashy tv before falling into bed, and getting up at 7am to head back into work.  The good thing is that she is home now, and has Monday off, and the rest of the week she can have sleep ins so her rest will be restored.

I have been back snuggling on the bed, which makes her smile.  As winter approaches, the quilt to mum ratio is climbing.  At the moment she sleeps with a duvet, and two quilts piled on top, and a fluffy blanket folded at her feet. Mum hates a cold bed, and is lovely and snuggled in with her flannel sheets.

Hope you are having a lovely end to your weekend, and getting in lots of snuggles too.

Friday Nite Lights

This is the view of the city we get from our little back porch.  The glow of lights is from the stadium, and on a clear night mum gets a lot of pleasure of seeing the twinkling of the lights in the suburbs surrounding the harbour.  Our city is actually on the rim of an ancient volcano, that is why it is a circular ring of hills surrounding the water.

Mum ventured out from the burbs, and went to town tonight.  It was one of the besties birthdays, and it was a lovely evening, with good food, great company and some laughter.  A good thing to do every now and again.  I stayed home and manned the fort.  There was  fancy feast and some cuddles for me when she got home.  Mum then sat and watched Graham Norton.  Russell Crowe was a guest - mum does still like him.

Hope you all had a fun Friday too.
