Countdown

Actually I haven't slept on the mumster bed for a couple of weeks.  My bed of choice has been the couch for the past month, but as we approach the winter solstice here, the temperatures are beginning to drop overnight.   So mum thinks it will only be a couple of weeks before I ventures back into the bedroom - she figures I will back within the fortnight.

She did get the first of the winter power bills, and was surprised that it was a reasonable $130 for the month, which is good.  Mum refuses to scrimp on putting the heat pump or heater on, she would rather we were warm, and kept the house round 18 degrees C, which the world health recommends for healthy living.  Last year, in the house we lived in we got a winter power bill for $420, rather steep for one lady and cat on a budget.

Anyways kitties, we are keeping warm and toasty tonight, and jealous of your hots, if you are sweating it out.

  2. Poppy, dear, please tell your mum she may feel free to envy us Midwestern Americans our 'hots.' Temps are 90F here and I've had to install big box fans -- and a small air conditioner -- to cool my feline roommates. Do wish our house had a basement so we could cool in a cave!

  3. Oh goodness, that heat bill is very low. Maybe helps to have a smaller place in which to live. Glad you are doing well

  6. This year is an odd one here in southern Alberta, Poppy. We've had few really warm days, and most nights, I've still had the heated mattress pad turned on. I think your bills are about the same as mine, though.

  7. Though Summer starts Saturday, we have not had the hot only some warms. The nights have been about 10-13C. We hope it warms up a bit though :)
    Stay cozy Poppy.

  8. Mum and I do not like the cold either. We like our heat on in the winter. Luckily our lace is small and heat is included. But warm here now that summer has arrived. Keep toasty Poppy. Meow, Jessica

  9. Maybe your new house is better insulated for you to stay warm. Our highest energy bill was just under $200 in our furry cold winter. But we have a bigger house to heat. Mum too won't go to extremes to not be warm.

  11. I like to sleep on the bed summer and winter. Mum complains in summer because she says I make her too hot. That heating bill sounds very reasonable.
