Fruit + Veg

Mum filled up the fruit bowl yesterday with more oranges and apples.
Tonight's dinner was easy for me - I got a feast.  Mum chopped up a sweet potato, potato, a green pepper and two carrots.  A bit of oil and salt and pepper.   5 minutes prep.  An hour in the oven and she grilled a small steak.  Delicious and lots of leftovers

Dinner Dancer

There I am being quite the blur while I do my dinner dance.  Mum dare not put her bottom on the couch when she gets home, her first priority should be to fix me my feast - even if it is 3.30pm?  What time do you start your dinner dancing?

Grey Caturday

It was a grey autumnal day here in our city today.  Mum was thrilled that heavy rain woke her up at early o'clock, and that I jumped all over her and talked to her from 5am-6am.

She managed to have a wee sleep in and finish a few chores.  Then it was off for a bestie catch up.  They wandered around and ate and then drank then it got dark which is a sign to head home!!!

Me - well I kept the house all cozy and waited for feast time!!!

We hope you all had a fun Caturday too.

Mumster Friday Night In

Me and the mumster are beginning the weekend right.  She got to the supermarket to stock up on treats and head home to get my feast ready.  Her dinner was decadent.   She had left over chilli as an entree and made chicken/broccoli Alfredo for a dinner.  The bathroom was cleaned, some washing was washed, dishes were done and now it is time for movies by candlelight.

Mum is watching Guardians of the Galaxy which is a bit of silliness.  She has a caramel pudding waiting for her and I might be able to con her into giving me some temptations for supper.

Thank you for worrying about neighbor cat.  We know he did not live here before us, asmum met that cat.  Although she has not met his family we can tell he is well fed and looked after.  We would say that 90% of kiwi cats are like me and have cat doors and are able to be independent and live indoor and outdoor.   I only go outside for about 1 hour a day, but I am an old girl and happy to stay inside, especially in the winter.

Anyways we hope you are all having a lovely Friday night too.  Treat yourself to something nice!!!

Napday

Mum had a busy one last night with 3 call in and she was there at 7am as the day staff arrived.  She always comes home thinking she is wide awake and ready to get busy.  Still after an hour and with breakfast on board, her bed was calling.  So mum and I took a morning nap and slept together.

After a shower and an easy lunch mum was ready for another nap, but resisted otherwise she knows she wouldn't sleep tonight.

Thanks for asking about yesterday's post.  That cheeky neighbor cat keeps trying to come in, but me or mum try to chase him off.

Warm Spot

Even though I have a  large bed to sleep in and this cozy winter bed, mum came in last night to find me here:
On the carpet next to the warm heater.  Ahhhh the perfect spot for a wintery evening.

Mum Monday

Mum had today off.  It was another cold night and although mum did think of some things to do today when she woke up she decided to change her plans.  She had a little sleep in with me and finished her book.

Washing was done and put out in the sun and the dishes were cleaned.  We had a little nap in the afternoon then mum got up on time for feast time.  She grabbed the camera when she saw the pretty sky outside.

So tomorrow mum will let herself go into town and do some fun things tomorrow.

Sunday Strolling

Mum finished work at 3pm and although it was still chilly, the sun was out and so mum went out for a little adventure.   She popped into a couple of shops and then caught the bus.  It drops her off down the road from home, and she took these photos on the way home.   Where we live there are lots of wooden villas built in the early 1900s.

Mum got home in time for feeding my feast.  She has some marinated chicken and a potato salad for dinner.

Now she has worked the weekend she is now ready for her days off  - yippee!!!

Chilly Caturday

Tis the chilly season now with lots of snow round the country with even a dusting on the ranges surrounding our seaside city.  Mum rushed home to turn our heaters on and dish the feast.

Picture from the Dominion Post/ Stuff.

The mumster went to work today and had to be up early at 5am.  Tomorrow is the same but after seven days of work she is looking forward to having Monday and Tuesday off.  Then we will sleep in.  One more day to go.

So we are off to snuggle under the covers soon.   Hope you all get a lovely Caturday - what are your plans?

City Lights

Where we live now is closer to the city so mum zipped in after work to do a quick job.  The evening came quickly and mum realized that it had been some time since she had been in the city after dark and she enjoyed just looking at the office lights and all the people scurrying round wrapped up warm and ready to head home or to local bars and restaurants.

No fancy night out for the mumster, she had to get home for leftovers and to dish out my feast.  Curtains are pulled and the heaters are on as some chilly weather is going to be blowing our way.

The Snuggle Season Has Arrived

The snuggle season has appeared to have arrived.   If mum settles down onto her bed she now finds me keen to jump on her and have a snuggle.   Although they don't last long mum is happy that they are becoming more frequent.   A surprise sign that the seasons are changing.

Oh and mum is loving her new sheepskin slippers that she got for mothers day.  She is happy to discard her work shoes and relax in the toasty warm sheepskin.

Window Watching

Mum pulls back the curtains each morning so that I get a good view outside during the day.

Prep

Some of the things mum does to prep for the week are:
- a few photos sessions are done on her days off.   As the winter weather gets colder and darker it gets harder to get nice photos during the week.
- Mum is getting better at only going to the supermarket and couple of times a week rather than going most days.
- She has been trying to cook a couple of time a week, making enough for a few meals.  Sunday nights dinner had enough for Monday lunch and dinner.

She didn't get much sleep last night so tonight will be an early bird bed time.  How is your Monday going?

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there - we hope you all had a lovely day. My mumster and I had a sleep in and then mum went to the market that is on our cities waterfront.  She got potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, cabbage, parsnips, turnips, lemons and feijoas.  She had a nice walk round the harbour and then stopped into the library to have her lunch at the cafe and use their facilities.
I let her choose her own present this year - some new sheepskin boots which are lovely and toasty warm. We are now having a snuggle on the bed while mum reads and plans her dinner from all the veg she bought.

Have a great day all of you mums!!

Middle Aged Mumster Caturday Night In

Being on call this weekend and still nursing a cough from her pesky cold of a few weeks ago, meant the mumster deemed this a perfect night to stay in.

Although her intention was to get out early this morning, she mucked around and barely made it out the door before it was 1pm.  She did time it right however as there was no line at the post office.  A quick library visit was made and then mum made a couple of purchases.   The temperature was cool today and it was the first scarf outing of the season.   Mum also purchased a woolly hat to keep her head warm on the hike too and from work.

So home by 4pm and I sure was ready for my feast.  Mum disturbed my post dinner rest by pushing the Dyson round.  Wedges and squid rings from the freezer were heated up but it was a bit blah.

Feet are up and the heaters are on.  Mum is watching a recorded movie and will try to get to bed at a reasonable time as she has a great pile of books to be read.

We hop

Quiet Night In

Mum finished her week with a visit to the supermarket for supplies and a walk home.  The skies were grey and heavy with rain although she stayed dry on the journey home.  After I got my feast I popped into her bed for a post dinner snoozle.
Mum made herself a quick dinner.  Toasted sandwiches with a ham cheese and pineapple filling.  Mum is pretty keen on the quick and easy dinners a couple of nights during the week

We can hear the wind outside blasting our city, but mum has drawn the curtains and turned the heater on.   There is a load of washing to do and a quick hoover of the carpets.  She likes to get most of the jobs out of the way on Friday night, otherwise she will procrastinate and avoid doing them.

She is on call until Monday morning as well which gives her a good excuse to have a quiet and simple weekend.   We hope you all have a quiet one planned too.

Chilling

Mum and I are just chilling tonight   she got called in last night so didn't get much sleep.   Then she rushed home in the rain tonight to give me my feast and get some washing done.  She then had to rush to her hairdresser appointment where she got to relax and read 4 magazines.   So she grabbed a burger on the way home, and now she has time to chill out before thinking about bed.

Me - well I am in the bedroom inspecting the layers of quilts on mums bed.

Wander

When mum is home I like to wander round the house with her.  I then return to my usual sleepy spots.  I guess though that she does the same.   She will have a wander and then return to the couch or the bed.  I guess we are all creatures of habit and comfort.

Sleepy Face

This was the face that I gave mum as she was leaving for work this afternoon.   It us my can't you get going, so I can go back to sleep face.

Sunday Supper

Mum decided to make a quick dinner tonight.   She put a couple of huge chicken quarters in an oven bag with olive oil, lemon juice, paprika and salt and pepper.   There was also some roasted sweet potatoes and pumpkin and the last of our green beans. Honestly it took only 10 minutes to prepare and about 40 minutes of cooking time.   Tasty and tons of left overs for tomorrow nights dinner.
Mum stayed home today and did some relaxing.   She mowed the lawns and pulled some weeds.  I started begging for my dinner at 4pm.   She finally gave in at 5pm.

So it's 7pm and we have both eaten our dinner.  Time to relax.

Sunny Caturday

Oh my gosh we are lucky having a wonderful sunny Caturday today.  Mum had to work late last night so she got in too late to do a post.  She got to have a sleep in this morning which she enjoyed after a long week.

She then got washing out, although our line doesn't see any if the sunshine over the winter.  The Dyson was pulled out to clean the carpet and the bed aired.

Mum then went out for a walk to enjoy the sunshine.  She went and looked at some nice towels, comfy boots and sweet smelling candles, but didn't buy any of them - it was just nice to look.

Now home with me to relax.  A feast for my dinner and mum cooked herself some meatballs with satay sauce for her tea.

We hope you all have had a lovely Caturday too.

Camping

Mum made me a little inside camping spot.  This is my bed that I used to sleep out on the deck at our old place.  Piled high with warm blankie and topped with a towel it sits nearby our heater.  Mum says not to worry it is nice and safe and I love it.

Our nights have now dropped down below 10 degrees and mum is super happy that I am cozy and warm and not climbing all over her.

Flynn

Awww mum was sad to read tonight about one of our sweet friends Flynn from Two Devon Cats Blog, had to take his final journey to the bridge.
We know that his lovely brother Eric would be waiting for him.  We have enjoyed their adventures over the years - helping on the farm, hunting mouses and warming the flowerpots.

Our hugs to him mum and dad - we know how much they loved him and what a big hole he leaves in their hearts.

Big hugs xxx.

Monday Meals

Yesterday mum got herself out for a walk for 2hours to get some groceries.   She got home just before the bad cold weather arrived.   So last night the heater was on and there was a lot of snuggling on the bed, she woke up overnight to find me planted beside her to keep her warm.

She headed back to work today, but she was tired after work and will be having an early night.  She made a good warm meal with enough for leftovers for tomorrow nights dinner.  Some nice pork sausages with green beans and a carrot/parsnip/swede mash.  20 minutes of cooking.
She has got all the meals organised for the rest of the week - roast chicken/sweet potatoes/green beans/ carrots, meatballs +rice/salad , bacon + mozzarella quiche with salad.  For lunch mum will make pastrami and salad sandwiches and an orange for the first half of the week and switch to chicken when the pastrami runs out.

Me - I am simple.  One feast a day and some biscuits to graze on.

Oh and thank you all for reassuring mum that she did the correct thing at the weekend by staying in bed at 1.30am.  She didn't bring out her gun - she would never own one of them.  She didn't feel the need to call the police, she didn't feel threatened.
